Tortie ("we", "our", "us") operates the Tortie mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Tortie, we collect the following information:

• Account information: Your name, email address, and profile picture (optional)
• Expense data: Expense titles, amounts, dates, categories, and split configurations that you enter into the App
• Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility
• Usage analytics: Anonymous usage patterns to help us improve the App experience

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the Tortie service, including syncing data between you and your partner
• Process and manage your subscription
• Send important service notifications (account confirmation, subscription changes, security alerts)
• Analyze anonymous usage patterns to improve the App
• Respond to support requests

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database. Authentication tokens are encrypted. We use HTTPS for all data transmission. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• RevenueCat: Manages in-app subscriptions and purchase verification. RevenueCat receives your anonymous user identifier and purchase information. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
• Sentry: Crash and error reporting to help us fix bugs quickly. Sentry may receive device information and anonymous error data. Sentry Privacy Policy

We do not sell, trade, or share your financial data with any third party.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the App settings. When you delete your account:

• Your personal information (name, email) is permanently deleted
• Expense records you created are soft-deleted and removed from your partner's view
• Your data is purged from our systems within 30 days

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
• Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
• Portability: Export your data in a machine-readable format (CSV export available in-app)
• Objection: Object to processing of your personal data
• Restriction: Request restriction of processing of your personal data

7. Children's Privacy

Tortie is not designed for or directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
